We are an independent research and design laboratory that combines creativity with scientific rigor to create new digital fabrication solutions.
Oficina Digital (OD) is composed of inventors, engineers, and
researchers interested in the fields of digital fabrication, robotics,
and education. We are enthusiasts of open-source software and
hardware, utilizing a participatory and collaborative approach to the
construction of technology and knowledge.
We are always looking for new projects and collaborations. We recognize that innovation is more meaningful when diverse perspectives are shared. We seek to establish a positive and inclusive environment, fostering collaboration and creativity so that everyone can contribute and feel integrated.
We support curricular units at ISEL for Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees, as well as Final Master's Theses and Final Undergraduate Projects. If you want to develop a prototype or an idea for your final project, talk to us!
About
Similar to an accelerator or incubator, but with ideas developed internally, we nurture projects with students, professors, and collaborators (both internal and external) from the initial research and development phase through to fundraising and spin-outs.
In our work, we demonstrate how basic science is fundamental to solving design and engineering problems, reconciling the rigor of applied mathematics and physics with the creativity of design.
Team
OD is coordinated by Tiago Charters (PhD) along with Mário Mendes and Manfred Niheus (PhD), and a dynamic team of students and collaborators.
